ACCPTA Statement on behalf of the Alachua County Children’s Trust

The PTA’s mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. The Alachua County Children’s Trust is a way for an entire community to invest in a resource that helps to fulfill our PTA’s mission. We often speak of children “falling through the cracks.” The Alachua County Children’s Trust is a way to invest in new ground to close those cracks.

As your ACCPTA President, I also serve on the Florida PTA Board of Directors. Through that service, I have been able to witness how other counties’ Children Services Councils provide a coordination of services for all children ages 0 to 18. In addition, this Children’s Trust would be a part of a network that is guided by the Florida Children’s Services Council.

We have many services for children that are doing great work. Coordination of services is the best way to bring us all out of our silos of good work and share services and resources across Alachua County and beyond. The Children’s Trust would be our community’s investment in sealing up our “cracks” by laying the new ground of coordination and services for all our children.

Please check out their campaign at www.ChildrensTrustofAlachuaCounty.org, and register for their kickoff event this Sunday, March 4 on Eventbrite, http://bit.ly/2oFDzmh .
