For more than 100 years, PTA has worked toward bettering the lives of every child in education, health and safety. Our mission, from the national level all the way down to the local school units, is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. Florida PTA is proud to sustain this mission and legacy with our campaign: All Children Are Our Children.
In Alachua County, our PTA community has the opportunity to support a campaign that will provide much-needed funding for comprehensive programs and services that will assist all of our from birth through grade 12: The Campaign for Children’s Trust.
The Campaign will create a Children’s Services Council, whose primary focus will be to provide comprehensive, supplemental services to support children’s initiatives.
During the general election in November 2018, Alachua County voters will have an opportunity to decide if they want to invest in a ½ mil tax referendum that will allow facilitate the creation of this council. If passed, the trust has the goal of supporting comprehensive services, including:
- Investment in early childhood education and care
- Tutoring and literacy programs
- Safe, quality afterschool and summer programs to provide more opportunities for those who need them
- Quality preparation for technical or trade school, college or university, and support for successful entry into the workforce for all students
Alachua County Council of PTA’s advocates for high quality learning environments for all children in Alachua County. We are proud to endorse the Children’s Trust, which will provide additional support and funding to accomplish that goal.
