ACCPTA Board of Directors

Kristen Mau, President

I am excited to be serving in my second year as the 2024-26 ACCPTA President. I moved to Alachua County in 1994 to attend the University of Florida, and upon earning my Master Degree in Education, I became a teacher at Hidden Oak Elementary. I had the pleasure of teaching for six years, kindergarten and first grade. When I had my own children, I stayed home to care for them. But my heart was never far from helping children, teachers, and schools, and as soon as I could, I joined the PTA and began volunteering. I have held several roles at the various schools my children attended (they are now 15- and 20-years-old). From room parent, grade level coordinator, yearbook advisor, Kanapaha Middle School PTSA President, Family Engagement Chair and Secretary for ACCPTA, and lots of committees in between, my passion has always been in education. I have seen the value of an engaged community, and when families, teachers, school staff, and community members come together, all children benefit. I am thrilled to continue my volunteer work with ACCPTA and hold close the PTA/PTSA mission to make every child’s potential a reality.

Sheila Traynor, Vice President

Hello! I am so happy to be embarking on my 2nd year as VP of ACCPTA. I am the mother of 2 Alachua County students, Aileen (13) and Kieran (11), and have been involved in PTAs since 2017. My background is in elementary education and I am currently a substitute teacher in Alachua County. Why I PTA is because I believe it’s so important to provide a safe, happy, and healthy learning environment for students, teachers, staff, parents, and the community as a whole. I look forward to see what ACCPTA accomplishes during the 2025-2026 school year!

Ody Kian, Treasurer

I’m happy to join the ACCPTA board as Treasurer this year. I was previously the secretary of ACCPTA.  I have experience working in the non-profit sector and in education in various teaching roles. My current work is mainly in community engagement and school support. I’m a proud parent of two ACPS students.

Leslie McLendon, Secretary

I am happy to join the ACCPTA board as Secretary this year. I am an Alachua County native and have two children currently going to county schools. I served on the PTA board of my daughter’s elementary school for two years, and I’ve been a general PTA volunteer for several years. I look forward to serving on the county council!

Megan Hendricks, Past President
& Communications Chair

My PTA experience includes various roles at all school levels, including president, vice president, staff appreciation, membership, and programs. At the county level, I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to serve as legislative chair, advocacy representative, vice president, and president. I’m looking forward to continuing my involvement in PTA at the county level this year to help our council serve our community in the best way possible! PTAs play an integral role in serving our school community, and I’m proud to be a part of such a passionate and caring group of people.
